Before joining The Showdown, the U.S. champion Open Bryson DeChambeau has made headlines for using a brand new driver that has never been released to the public. DeChambeau is nicknamed “The Scientist” thanks to his scientific approach to golf, always standing out with innovations in golf equipment, from iron clubs of the same length to distance optimization methods. This time, at The Showdown event – where he competed with Brooks Koepka, Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler – DeChambeau caught the audience’s attention when testing a new driver. When making shots at the driving range, DeChambeau uses a driver with his personal brand logo “BD”, with layers of silver tape and the LA Golf logo. Immediately, the stick attracted the interest of teammate Brooks Koepka, who approached for a closer look.
During the photo shoot with the Reebok brand – the new partner of LIV Golf’s Crushers GC team – people also discovered an LA Golf driver appearing in the corner of the photo. It’s very possible that it’s the same club model that DeChambeau used at The Showdown. Currently, there is no official information about the driver’s specifications. However, it is believed to use the LA Golf BAD Prototype shaft, similar to the shaft DeChambeau is using in his driver, the Krank Formula Fire LD. Expected to launch in 2025, this driver will face fierce competition from other major brands. Currently, a number of new models from Cobra and other brands have also appeared on the professional playing field.
