Los Angeles Dodgers created history with an overwhelming victory, an absolute victory in the Playoff round. After falling behind in Game 2, the Los Angeles Dodgers returned to their dominant form in Game 3 of the NLCS. The Dodgers slowly worked their way to a dominant victory over the New York Mets, scoring runs in the second, sixth, eighth and ninth innings to eventually win 8-0. The offense began with an RBI single by Will Smith and a sacrifice bunt by Tommy Edman, but eventually featured home runs by Kiké Hernandez, Shohei Ohtani and Max Muncy.

Los Angeles also managed to get another scoreless outing from their injured pitching lineup, this time 4.0 scoreless innings from starter Walker Buehler. Michael Kopech, Ryan Braiser and Blake Treinen each pitched 1.0 innings without allowing a run in the save, then Ben Casparius finished the game with 2.0 innings of his own. The Dodgers allowed just four hits and four walks while striking out 13 batters. On the contrary, their offense made the most of 10 hits and seven walks.
Game 3 marked the Dodgers’ fourth shutout win this postseason, all coming in their last five games. They closed out the NLDS against the San Diego Padres with an 8-0 win in Game 4 and a 2-0 win in Game 5, then opened the NLCS with a 9-0 win over the Mets. Only one team in MLB history has more whitewashed wins in a postseason. The 2016 Cleveland Guardians held opponents scoreless five times en route to that year’s American League championship.
