Former Vanderbilt baseball player Walker Buehler won his second World Series with the Los Angeles Dodgers, after a perfect save in the ninth inning in Game 5. Buehler also went five scoreless innings after starting Game 3 on Monday. On Wednesday, he was called into action with a one-run lead against the New York Yankees on short rest. The right-hander, who played for Vanderbilt from 2013 to 2015 and was a member of the 2014 College World Series championship team, missed all of 2023 with injury and then posted a 5.38 ERA. in 16 starts during the 2024 regular season, but he played much better in the postseason.

Buehler is the first former Commodores baseball player to appear for two World Series championship teams, as he was also a member of the 2020 championship-winning Dodgers team. David Price also received two World Series rings, one with the Reds Sox in 2018 and one with the Dodgers in 2020. But Price did not appear for the Dodgers that season. He is the second former Vanderbilt player to win both the College World Series and MLB World Series titles, after Dansby Swanson. Swanson won the World Series with the Atlanta Braves in 2021.
Other Vanderbilt alumni who have won multiple professional titles include Will Perdue, who won three NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls and one with the San Antonio Spurs; Damian Jones, who was on the championship-winning Golden State Warriors teams in 2017 and 2018; and Sheri Sam, who won WNBA championships with the Seattle Storm and Detroit Shock.
