Paige Bueckers was close to a triple double with 21 points, nine assists and eight rebounds. Rookie Sarah Strong also scored a game-high 22 points. The Huskies had a 65.6% shooting success rate from the line and a 52.9% three-point shooting success rate. UConn’s defense had an impressive performance with 10 steals, including 15 lost by Villanova.
The Huskies scored 31 points in the first half and led 58-32 at halftime. They absolutely dominated the field, defeating the Wildcats 37-23 and assisting on 26 of their 49 field goal attempts. Kaitlyn Chen, a transfer and graduate student at Princeton, scored 17 points, her highest score while wearing a Huskies uniform. KK Arnold was the fourth player to reach double digits, scoring 11 points off the bench. UConn now improves to 9-0 in the Big East and 18-2 overall.
