“I am honored to rejoin the Reds family,” Francona said. “Having spent the ’87 season here, I quickly realized how important not only baseball but the Reds were to this area.” ”. Francona spent the last 11 seasons as Cleveland’s coach, but retired after the 2023 season. “Honestly, I don’t see myself managing again,” he said. “I had a really good year without playing games. I need to step out. I didn’t step out because I didn’t love the game. I walked out because I didn’t think I was doing the job at the caliber that I thought was needed. Part of it is health, and a lot of it is health, and it’s getting in the way.”
