Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Saquon Barkley ran for 109 yards in the first half on Sunday, but the Washington Commanders’ defense stopped the quarterback in the final three quarters of a 36-33 win in Landover, Maryland. After scoring two touchdowns and surpassing the 100-yard mark early on, Barkley ran for just 41 yards in the final three quarters and finished with 150 yards. Much of that had to do with Eagles quarterback Kenny Pickett replacing Jalen Hurts, who left the field with a concussion midway through the first half. Hurts did not return. Hurts is a running threat, preventing defenses from focusing on Barkley. Not so with Pickett.

After Sunday’s game against the Commanders, Barkley had rushed for 1,838 yards in 15 games this season. He set the Eagles’ single-season rushing record in the fourth quarter against the Carolina Panthers on December 8, breaking LeSean McCoy’s 2013 record of 1,607 yards. He also broke Wilbert Montgomery’s record for rushing yards. most 100-yard rushing games in a season with his ninth of the season. With Barkley’s 68-yard touchdown run, he equaled the NFL record for his fourth touchdown run of over 60 yards in a season, tying him with Adrian Peterson and Jim Brown.
