Even Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Saquon Barkley isn’t sure why he hit his helmet twice on a 78-yard touchdown run against the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC divisional round. As he broke free and ran away from the Rams’ defense, Barkley hit his head while heading toward the end zone in the fourth quarter of Philly’s 28-22 win. When asked about that moment, the three-time Pro Bowler told reporters he was “falling apart like the kids say.” Barkley’s long run proved to be the game-winning score as Philadelphia nearly saw its 13-point lead erased. Matthew Stafford’s four-yard touchdown pass to linebacker Colby Parkinson brought the Rams to a six-point margin with 2:48 to go, and they had a chance to take the lead after a three-and-out by Eagles. Los Angeles got as far as Philly’s 22-yard line before an incomplete pass by Stafford on fourth down saved the home team from a disappointing defeat. Barkley’s performance contributed to his historic 2024 campaign. He finished with 205 yards and two scores on the ground.
