The biggest change at the position for Penn State during James Franklin’s tenure is undoubtedly the offensive line. This unit has gone from an absolute liability to one of its biggest strengths during his tenure, so it’s no surprise that this list starts with one of the most versatile offensive players on the entire unit. Olaivavega Ioane is a Swiss army knife on the offensive, serving as a test subject for Andy Kotelnicki’s mad scientist tendencies. Most notably, Ioane only moved to balance a defender once the play began, becoming infamous for it during the UCLA game on October 5. Ioane’s achievements go beyond being a mover. He was selected to the All-Big Ten second team by coaches and media, and also earned Academic All-Big Ten honors. He started all 16 games at left guard, and the only time you heard his name called was when he was in motion, which for an offensive player is a very good thing.
