Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart wants to continue his Heisman Trophy campaign and improve on his first start this week against Middle Tennessee. The Rebels picked up their second win of the season with a 52-3 rout of the Blue Raiders as Dart completed 24 consecutive completed passes, the first of which was unsuccessful in the fourth quarter. The previous record set by Tennessee’s Tee Martin was 23. On the day, Dart completed 25 of 27 passes through the air for 377 yards and one touchdown, adding a touchdown on the ground for good measure. Good. Dart played well throughout the game and showed no signs of slowing down, even into the fourth quarter when he was replaced by reserve Austin Simmons.

Dart was so focused throughout the match that he didn’t even realize he was about to make history. “I know where I’m at, but I don’t know the record or anything,” Dart said after the game. “I just kept putting the ball in my guys’ hands.” And he certainly did. The Five Rebels had receptions of over 20 yards, with Tre Harris leading the way with 130 yards and Juice Wells scoring the lone score. Simply put, Dart appears to be in mid-season form heading into the Rebels’ first real test of the season. Throwing for a total of 795 yards in the last two games and scoring eight more touchdowns is a great way to start the season, made even better with a possible Heisman win.
