Ohio State’s 2025 roster will be very different from the one that just won the national championship. All of the seniors who missed out on last year’s NFL championship, which they won Monday night in a 34-23 win over Notre Dame, are gone . Defensive outfielders Jack Sawyer and JT Tuimoloau , catcher Emeka Egbuka, shortstop TreVeyon Henderson and outfielder Cody Simon are just a few of the stars who will be leaving. Also leaving are midfielder Will Howard and center Seth McLaughlin, who transferred after college. But the Buckeyes are not without talent. In fact, despite the losses, Ohio State is still considered a top championship contender next year.

The Buckeyes had to replace most of their key players on both sides of the field. Howard’s departure leaves Julian Sayin as the heir apparent at midfield. At the running back position, Quinshon Judkins is expected to declare for the NFL draft, making James Peoples the most likely starter. The entire defensive line starts to leave, but Caden Curry and Kenyatta Jackson will step into the defensive midfield positions. Inside the line, Eddrick Houston, Kayden McDonald and Hero Kanu will play prominent roles. Depending on whether Davison Igbinosun turns pro or not, the Buckeyes may have to replace both cornerbacks. Jermaine Mathews will fill a position. Jaylen McClain may be the best candidate for the right-back position alongside star Caleb Downs.
