Minnesota’s governor will be in Asheville on Tuesday to join the Harris-Walz campaign. ASHEVILLE, NC – Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz is making a reappearance in North Carolina as the election approaches. The Minnesota governor will be in Asheville on Tuesday, September 17 for a Harris-Walz campaign rally. Further details about the campaign have not yet been announced. Vice President Kamala Harris held rallies in Charlotte and Greensboro on Thursday, September 12. A week earlier, former President Donald Trump came to Charlotte for a private event.
Trump has won North Carolina twice, but his narrow 1.3 percentage point victory in 2020 was his closest statewide victory. North Carolina, which once leaned Republican, now leans more Republican. Even so, Democrats running for president have only won North Carolina once since 1980, when Barack Obama won the state in 2008.
