The Blue Jays announced they have signed Max Scherzer to a one-year, $15.5 million contract. Reports of the deal emerged last week , when Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi reported that the deal was pending a health check. Everything seems to have worked out and the Blue Jays now officially have a three-time Cy Young Award winner in the starting lineup. Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports that Scherzer’s one-year contract has a no-trade clause and also comes with some performance bonuses. Heyman reported that the future Hall-of-Fame candidate, 40, could earn $150,000 for winning the Cy Young Award, $125,000 for finishing second, $100,000 for finishing third, $75,000 for finishing fourth and $50,000 for finishing fifth. Scherzer can also earn an additional $50,000 for being named an All-Star, $50,000 for winning the golden glove award, $50,000 for winning the World Series MVP award and $25,000 for winning the LCS MVP award.
