No. 1 Louisville is advancing to the NCAA national women’s volleyball championship after a stunning four-set victory over No. 1 Pitt . The Cardinals fought back from a first set defeat and then multiple set points in the third set to overcome the Panthers. Pitt played very strongly, winning the first set 25-21 thanks to the dominant play of Olivia Babcock, who finished with a match-high 33 points. The Panthers’ offense was explosive from the start, hitting .373 in the opening set. Louisville responded in a tight second set, coming back from a deficit to win 25-23 and tie the score. The third set saw Pitt take the lead, but Louisville’s Anna DeBeer made a decisive block to tie the score at 23-23. The Cardinals remained calm, winning the set 29-27. DeBeer’s well-rounded play and defensive presence turned the game in Louisville’s favor.
Louisville, which lost DeBeer to injury, remained in control in the fourth set to win. With this win, Louisville advances to its second national championship game in three years. The Cardinals will look to win their first championship after losing it in 2022.
