Jake Rogers hit his third career grand slam in the sixth inning with six runs, and the Detroit Tigers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-3 on Saturday for their 10th win in 12 games. Andy Ibáñez had two hits and two RBI for the Tigers. Rogers hit his seventh home run off Trevor Richards, who came on after the Tigers knocked Yusei Kikuchi out of the game in their big inning. Toronto power hitter Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had three of four hits with a two-run home run, his 16th, but the slumping Blue Jays lost their second game fourth in five matches and had their worst record of the season, losing 10 matches.

Guerrero finished in three consecutive starts for the second time this season. Tigers right-handed pitcher Reese Olson left the field after two innings with a sore right shoulder. He threw 30 pitches, hitting 16 times. Olson used the double ball to stop runners in each of his scoreless innings. He allowed two hits, both singles, and walked once. Right-handed pitcher Alex Faedo replaced Olson in the third inning and pitched two innings. Right-hander Kenta Maeda allowed three runs in two innings. Left fielder Tyler Horton pitched the seventh and eighth innings, and right fielder Shelby Miller finished.
