The Georgia football team is preparing to lose a former defensive player. Linebacker Julian Humphrey posted on Instagram Sunday afternoon that he plans to enter the transfer portal, which opens on Dec. 9. It’s unclear if he will be with the team for the SEC finals against Texas on Saturday. The sophomore from Webster, Texas was replaced from the starting lineup by Daniel Harris in the last two games and did not play in the 8-OT win over Georgia Tech.

The 6-foot, 190-pound Humphrey started the first 10 games of the season, but Harris was brought in to replace him against Tennessee. He played six snaps against the Volunteers and 10 snaps against UMass, according to Pro Football Focus. Humphrey had 10 tackles and led the team with four sacks. He played nine games as a reserve last season and played three games in 2022 while staying.
