Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard added another preseason honor to his list of accolades. On Thursday, the Davey O’Brien Foundation placed Leonard on its award watch list. The Davey O’Brien Award is given annually to the nation’s top quarterback. Thirty-six other quarterbacks were recognized on the watch list. In addition to the Davey O’Brien Award, Leonard also earned a spot on the Walter Camp Player of the Year watchlist, the Maxwell Award, and the Comeback Player best of the year. No Notre Dame football player has won the award since its inception in 1981.The Davey O’Brien Foundation will release its official midseason watch list of 35 players on October 29, the semi-finalists on November 12 and the three finalists on November 26 . They will announce the winner on December 12.
