The Drake women’s basketball team defeated Illinois State 79-74 on Friday at the Knapp Center to complete a regular-season win over the Redbirds. Drake improved its record to 14-8 overall and 8-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Illinois State also has a record of 14-8 and 8-3. “A very thrilling game going into those intermissions, we really liked the atmosphere of our team,” Drake coach Allison Pohlman said. “Winning with a difference of 30 points is really great, but matches like this force the bravery of female players to show. As a coach, I feel very proud of that support within our team. This was a really good Illinois State team that we just beat, so proud of our determination.”
