Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell is great at many things, and giving speeches that make you want to punch through a brick wall might be his best skill. In an interview this morning with Jim Costa and Jon Jansen on 97.1 The Ticket , Campbell addressed the lack of optimism following Sunday’s loss when the Lions lost four players to injury. After a 48-42 loss to the Buffalo Bills, defensive back Alim McNeil, running back David Montgomery and cornerback Khalil Dorsey were ruled out for the season, while cornerback Carlton Davis III was ruled out for six weeks.

Even though the Lions lead the league in the number of defensive players out due to injury, Detroit still has the best record in the NFL (12-2) and still leads the NFC North, winning the tiebreaker with The Minnesota Vikings are 12-2 thanks to beating the Vikings earlier this fall. “We can’t let these injuries go in vain, man,” Campbell said. “All those players helped us get to where we are now, who ultimately helped us get to 12 wins and we owe it to them to get this done.”
