Last week, a Delta flight attendant asked passenger Catherine Banks to get off the plane shortly before departure because the employee saw her T-shirt had “threatening” content. The T-shirt reads: “Don’t give in to the fight within. Stop veteran suicide.” “I said, ‘Are you kidding me?’ “I’m a Marine Corps veteran,” Banks recalled. I’m going to visit my Marine Corps sister. I was in the Marine Corps for 22 years and in the Air Force for 15 years. I will visit her.” Banks claims the flight attendant responded, ‘I’m not interested in your service, and I’m not interested in hers. The only way you can get back on the plane is to take it off now.'”

This T-shirt is a suicide prevention shirt sold by the Til Valhalla Project, which provides memorial plaques for the families of fallen veterans. Banks himself is a veteran. Banks said that after informing the flight attendant about her service, she was still forced to change on the jet bridge and had to turn her back to the flight attendant because she was not wearing a bra. Banks also said that when she got back on the plane, she was forced to sit in the back instead of the seat she paid for, which had more legroom.
