The recent hot streak of Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever came to an abrupt halt on Wednesday night when they suffered an 86-75 loss to the Las Vegas Aces. Clark certainly wasn’t at her best in this match, as she struggled to make her typical impact for the Fever. While Portnoy admitted Clark didn’t have his best performance, he criticized the referees for an offensive foul that saw them penalize the star rookie during the match.

Clark has faced an incredible level of physicality in her rookie campaign, and compared to some of the hits she’s taken this season, this was a pretty weak decision. However, ultimately, that wasn’t the reason Fever lost this match, so there’s no reason to worry too much about it. Portnoy certainly raised a good point, but it’s possible that Clark is no longer thinking about that and is instead focused on leading Indiana to victory in the rematch with the Aces on Friday night.
