The Atlanta Hawks racked up 36 wins and one unsuccessful playoff appearance. The Hawks enter their second full year under coach Quin Snyder. The Hawks moved Dejounte Murray, which hands the keys back to Trae Young as the primary playmaker. However, that move seems like the Hawks are heading towards a rebuild, so the roster is a bit confusing. Bogdan Bogdanovic is still a respectable pitcher, and Clint Capela does his job in the box. A full season from De’Andre Hunter would be great, and there’s potential in the youth of Zaccharie Risacher and Jalen Johnson. It’s not all bad for the Hawks, but this roster isn’t enough to make a splash in the East. If it’s off to a slow start, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Hawks go into rejuvenation and start moving guys around.

The Brooklyn Nets could easily be one of the worst teams in the NBA this season, and they’ll be big dogs most nights because of it. Let’s not act like the Hawks are world beaters, though, because they weren’t that good last season, and you could argue that they’re even worse with Murray’s move. I understand the Nets don’t have much appeal because they’re planning for the future, but that doesn’t mean we should just make other mid-range teams into contenders. For me, it’s Nets or pass.
