The Buffalo Bills will bring back longtime safety and former captain Micah Hyde by signing the 33-year-old to the practice squad. Hyde, a two-time All-Pro selection, was one of the best safeties in franchise history during his seven years in Buffalo. From 2017 to 2023, Hyde started 95 games with the Bills, racking up 347 tackles and 16 interceptions. Hyde is a free agent after the 2023 season and decided not to sign with another team last season. Bills head coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane have left open the possibility of a reunion with Hyde during the 2024 season.

Once the reunion officially takes place, Hyde will return to the Bills defense system that he is very familiar with. Buffalo has gotten great play from safeties Taylor Rapp and Damar Hamlin this season, and Hyde will be a valuable resource and backup option on the practice squad as the team moves into the postseason season. The Bills also have safeties Lewis Cine and Kareem Jackson on the practice squad. Earlier this season, QB Josh Allen was asked about Hyde’s potential return and shared that the Pro Bowler would be welcomed back without question. The Bills have released WR Deon Cain from the practice squad.
