The Lions have done a great job finding talent in the draft over the years, leading to their resurgence over the past two years. Brian Branch, one of the Lions’ 2023 draft picks, has become a Pro Bowler thanks to his versatility at second base. The former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback took to social media on Saturday and made it clear that he wants GM Brad Holmes to bring Jihaad Campbell onto the team. Branch had the opportunity to play alongside Campbell at the University of Alabama in 2022. It was Branch’s last year with the Tide, but Campbell’s first year with the team. Campbell is considered a first-round pick of most mock drafts and could be on the board when the Lions make their selection at No. 28. However, the former Crimson Tide cornerback had a good performance at the combine, which will only increase his value in the weeks leading up to the draft.

The Lions could use another fullback as their depth was tested this past season due to the number of injuries in the defensive line. In his final year with the Tide, Campbell had 117 combined tackles, 12 tackles for loss, five tackles for loss, two pass deflections and one interception. Detroit shockingly did not select a cornerback in the 2024 Draft after selecting three LBs in the previous two drafts. With a player like Campbell, it wouldn’t be a bad move for Detroit to return to that philosophy.
