One aspect of Davis’ game that has been missing since he arrived in Fayetteville is the confidence and fearlessness he displayed during his days at Florida Atlantic. With freshman guard Boogie Fland sidelined with a thumb injury, Davis has been forced into a larger ball-handling role where he must be confident in order to be effective. In the win over Georgia, that was evident on several possessions. In the loss to Oklahoma, that was a little more evident. On Saturday night, it was without a doubt the most confident and fearless version of Davis we’ve ever seen. On Arkansas’ first possession of the night, Davis hit a 3-pointer with no hesitation at the top of the hoop to set the tone for the rest of the game. Even Kentucky head coach Mark Pope agreed with Calipari’s assessment after the game that Davis finally played like many expected before the season. Davis was the reason behind Arkansas’ first-round win over Kentucky. The Wildcats are known for their high-powered offense and excellent 3-point shooting, which means the Hogs must be prepared to hit a series of shots to stay afloat. With guard DJ Wagner making 0 of 5 shots, including 0 of 2 from long range, Davis paced and led the Razorbacks in scoring in the first half with 12 points. The Hogs led 46-45 at halftime and didn’t lose again for the rest of the game.
