Every kid growing up in the Tri-state area dreamed of one day hitting a grand slam in the World Series that would give the Yankees victory, but against great odds, it was just one hit. ball, Anthony Volpe, the pride of Morristown, New Jersey, did it on Tuesday night! The 23-year-old baseball player became the ninth Yankee player to hit a grand slam in the World Series. “That’s Derek Jeter version 2.0,” Yankee fan Tyler DeRosa said. Fans have been waiting for someone to replace Yankees great Derek Jeter, and after his grand slam in Game 4, they may have found Anthony Volpe.

He is also doing this for Morristown, New Jersey, where Volpe holds a position as a baseball player at Delbarton School. “He’s one of the hardest-working kids I’ve ever coached, and he deserves a night like that and hopefully he can play well in Game 5 tonight,” Head Football Coach Delbarton High baseball team, Bruce Shatel said. Shatel coached Volpe throughout his high school career, and he said seeing Volpe shine under the bright lights of the Bronx was no surprise.
About 40 miles from Yankee Stadium, the New Jersey private school has become a force on the baseball field, winning multiple state titles and churning out great talents like Volpe and pitcher Jack Leiter of the Texas Rangers. But now his jersey hangs next to players like Juan Soto, Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge. Sal from Ballpark Sports Shop is having trouble restocking Volpe jerseys after Tuesday night’s heroic performance. “As soon as I saw the ball go home, I told them to get ready, took them out,” Sal said. “So we took everything we had. That’s all we had left.”
