Murakami is one of Japan’s most famous artists and the originator of hyperplane theory, an art form inspired by the 2D images of Japanese anime and manga. His signature flowers, with their bold colors, are instantly recognizable and his work has appeared in advertising campaigns, album covers and various forms of media. The two-game Tokyo Series between the reigning World Series champion Dodgers, led by reigning National League MVP Ohtani, and the Cubs is scheduled for March 18 and 19. Prior to the series, the MLB clubs will take on the Yomiuri Giants and NPB’s Hanshin Tigers in exhibition matches, respectively. The series will feature the first opener between Japanese pitchers, with Yamamoto expected to start for Los Angeles and Imanaga to start for Chicago. The partnership with Murakami is part of Fanatics’ continued push into the Japanese market.
